What's new

Jammet is early and is being built with its first bands.

Reply to a comment

Comments in the studio are sorted by where they sit in the song, so an answer to a remark could land far away from it. Now each comment has a Reply button, and replies stay nested under the comment they answer, at the same moment in the song. Long threads fold down to the last two replies until you open them.

The person you reply to gets a notification that opens the thread at your reply. You can turn that off under Replies in your notification settings.

Rehearse your part with stems

Practising a new song at home meant playing along with the whole mix, your own part included. Now every song is split into four stems, drums, bass, vocals and everything else, so you can take yourself out of the mix and play against the rest of the band.

Open a song in the studio and tap Stems at the top left of the waveform. The four lanes replace the waveform at the same size, each with its own small waveform, a mute and a solo button, and on a computer a level fader. Mute your own lane, or solo the one you want to hear, and the song keeps playing from where you were. Full mix puts everything back, and Mix returns you to the waveform. Each stem can also be downloaded from the download menu for practising elsewhere.

The split is made automatically when a version is uploaded, and the songs already in your bands have theirs. It is not a studio-grade separation: the "other" lane holds guitars, keys and whatever is left, and a little of one instrument can bleed into another. For rehearsing a part it does the job.

On a phone the stems take a moment to load the first time you open them; the mix keeps playing until all four are ready.

Stems on your phone: play without your lane, or hear it alone

On a phone, playing four separate stems at once could drift out of step with each other. So on a phone the Stems view now plays one stream at a time: Without on a lane plays the whole band except that lane, Only plays that lane by itself. Both are as steady as the song itself, because they are single files the analyzer prepares for every version. The full mixer with levels stays on your computer.

A calmer home for your songs

The song home has a new look. Cards are tonal with no borders, text is set in Archivo, and colour now means one thing: cyan is something you can do, green and amber are whether people have listened. The listener tally on each card shows at a glance who in the band has heard the latest version.

Songs play straight from storage

Until now the studio downloaded a whole song before it could play it, so the first play after opening a song took a while and seeking relied on the browser cooperating. Songs now stream directly from storage, the same way share links always have: playback starts sooner, and seeking goes through the device's own player.

Seeking on iPhone works again

On iPhone, tapping the waveform could keep playing from the old position and jump seconds later, or stop playback altogether. Tap-to-seek now resumes where you tapped, and the player checks that a seek actually happened instead of trusting the browser.

React to comments with emoji

The single heart on a comment has grown into a row of reaction pills. Pick from eight emoji, add more than one, and tap a pill to take yours back. Reactions from before the change still show as the heart they were.

There is also an emoji palette in the comment box, so you can put them in the text itself.

Make a bandmate an admin

Running a band no longer has to go through the owner. In the members panel, owners and admins can promote a member to admin, or revoke it again, from the row's menu. Admins manage members; only the owner can hand over ownership.

Your plan follows you, not each band

Plans used to be bought per band. They are now per person: one allowance of bands you can own, and one pooled song budget shared across every band you own.

The pricing page shows your account live, with bands owned against your allowance and songs against the pooled budget. Band settings show the same numbers in one place, with a single upgrade button.

Hand a band over to someone else

Band owners can now transfer ownership from the members panel. Billing and full control move to the new owner, and you stay on as an admin. Because the move cannot be undone by the person who made it, the flow asks you to pick the member, read what changes, and type the band name to confirm.

Band activity now opens the song

Rows in the band activity feed used to be plain text. Each row is now a button that takes you to the song, and comment rows have an inline reply that lands on the comment itself.

Sharing shows up in the feed too: when someone shares a song, nudges the band or opens a song to a circle, you see it with who was notified.
